In 2019, the AIP legal team continued to provide legal aid to citizens, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and journalists, appealing in court in cases of denial of access to information. A review of the decisions in cases for access to information that were supported by the Access to Information Programme was prepared by lawyer Kiril Terziiski and published in the AIP Monthly Newsletter Issue 1 (193), 2020.

The provision of legal aid remains one of the priority activities for the AIP. In 2019, in some cases the AIP legal team provided legal assistance at the initial stage of the search for information, giving advice and / or preparing requests for access to information. In othercases, assistance was provided following a refusal to provide information. An overview of the legal assistance provided by the legal team of the Access to Information Programme in 2019 was prepared by attorney-at-law Stephan Anguelov from the AIP legal team and was published in the monthly e-Newsletter of AIP Issue 1 (193), 2020.
